Lietha and Fatton, winners of the last race of the season

Emily Harrop finished in second place, enough to grant her the Overall World Cup title.

Tromso, 15 April 2023 – The WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup season 2022/23 ended in Tromso with the Sprint race. The track was located in the middle of the Arctic city, attracting hundreds of spectators. It was the shortest Sprint of the season, not so steep, but the one with the best atmosphere.

The Women’s Sprint race was all about one question: Who will win the Overall World Cup? Before the race, Emily Harrop had a one-point lead over Giulia Murada, so everything was possible. But, in the end, it was decided after the semifinals as Murada didn’t make it to the finals, while Emily Harrop finished second.

Marianne Fatton (SUI) conquered the last race of the winter, winning for the first time since World Championships 2021. Harrop crossed the finish line second, followed by Déborah Marti (SUI), her best result since December 2019.

“My first victory this season, it’s a big moment for me. I couldn’t race last year, and to be on the top step again is perfect. I’m so thankful for that. The best way to end the season,” said Marianne Fatton, a former World Champion in the Sprint race and winner of the Overall World Cup 2019/20.

Emily Harrop won the Sprint World Cup and Overall World Cup. The Frenchwoman was able to defend, although she missed two races. Giulia Murada (ITA) finished second Overall, Célia Perillat-Pessey (FRA) third.

The main protagonists of the Sprint races of the past seasons, Arno Lietha and Oriol Cardona Coll, proved that they are just the best in this discipline. The two great rivals made it to the finals, and Lietha won ahead of the Spanish Sprint specialist by half of a ski.
Lietha had an exceptional season. He won five out of six Sprints and defended the small Globe for this discipline:

“The final was crazy, everybody went so fast. I didn’t even know I could go that fast. Unbelievable race… I’m happy about how it ended, the whole season was good. I almost won every World Cup Sprint race, and I just missed the podium in the World Championships. So I feel good about the past months,” said Lietha, the best Sprinter of the season.

The second of the day was Oriol Cardona Coll (ESP), with Matteo Favre (SUI) closing the podium in third place.

The winner of the World Cup, Thibault Anselmet (FRA), missed the finals. A historical season for Belgium as Maximilien Drion du Chapois (BEL) finished second Overall. Rémi Bonnet (SUI), the king of the Individual and Vertical races, was third with six starts less than Anselmet.
