I'm Alessandra Schmid and I've been proudly representing the Swiss National Skimountaineering Team since 2019. While my passion for this exciting sport may have been a happy coincidence after quitting alpine skiing, it certainly didn't take long for me to fall head over heels for the perfect combination of skiing, endurance and breathtaking mountain scenery. As a member of the athlete's commission, I'm eager to share the opinions and perspectives of the skimo community and help promote and preserve the beauty of this incredible sport.
I started skimo when I was fifteen, along with speleology, climbing and alpinism. In alpinism my biggest succes was summiting Fitz Roy in Patagonia. I started competing in skimo when I was 31 years old, and I compete in World Cup since 2018. I have won two silver and two gold medals at European and World Championshis in sprint. I studied geology at university, obtained PhD degree in environmental science and I work as mountain leader specialised in geology in France. I am a member of VSC Dukla Banska Bystrica, a sport army group in Slovakia.
Finn grew up in the skimo Family. He embarked on his international journey at a remarkably young age, showcasing his talent and earning numerous medals at Youth World Championships and Youth World Cups. Finn thrives in the mountains and calls Munich home, where the 20-year-old Sport-Soldier pursues both his training and studies in engineering. With five years of invaluable experience as a dedicated member of the German National Team, Finn joined the Athletes Commission in 2023, further cementing his commitment to shaping the future of skimountaineering. ' I am genuinely eager to show my support for the athletes' opinions. Our voices matter, and it's important to listen to the athletes' perspectives. I believe in the power of respectful engagement, and I am keen to contribute positively to the conversations surrounding the athletes' viewpoints.'
