ISMF Council meets to analyse the season and establish the basis for next year

 

Lausanne, 8 May 2023 – The International Ski Mountaineering Federation Council met on May 4  virtually with a busy agenda to review the season and set up the basis for the next one.

Three motions were submitted for this meeting, one for the Bureau, one from ESMC and one from a Council member, and all three of them were approved. The Vice President of Finance gave an overview of the monthly cash flow of the organization, and explained the Income Status of the 3rd quarter, and gave also feedback on the current status of the implementation of the measures after the internal audit.

The Council reviewed the work of the Working Group that is focused on the Broadcasting, Marketing and Media Operations of the organization, in order to re-define the structure and workflow for the following seasons, which needs to attract more people to the sport and showcase our events in the best possible way.

The Vice President of Sports and Events explained the current status of the planning of the competitions for the season 2023-24. Due to the elections of the Athletes representative and Coach representative, the members of the Rules Commission had to be officially elected. All members are now working on presenting their recommendations for the next season in the next meetings.

The Council members were informed about WADA’s upcoming audit and the work that this involves within the organization and its staff members. Two representatives from ISMF participated at the IOC’s webinar on Fairness, Inclusion and Non-Discrimination, and will distribute the information amongst the members.

“The season has been a great one for our sport, for our athletes and for our Member National Federations, but we can not stop here, we need to continue working with each and everyone to make it even better in 2024”, said the ISMF President, Regula Meier. “The summer months are crucial for our organization to develop new rules, to improve our governance.  review what worked and what we can change, where we should put our focus and of course, to plan all the development and competition plans for the next season, and I want to thank all the staff, Council members and Commission and Working Groups members for their work in the past months to deliver our best season so far”, she said.
