Lausanne, 12 January 2021 – The ISMF is deeply saddened to learn that its friend Jaume Esteve passed away yesterday after a long fight against a terrible disease.
Words are missing to express the regret for the loss of a colleague who devoted much of his life to the sport, covering the role of President of the Federació Andorrana de Muntanyisme for several years, and especially to ski mountaineering. His passion, enthusiasm and dedication for the ski mountaineering made the Andorran Federation one of the most respected members of the ISMF, well known from the organisation of international events every year since a decade.
Jaume’s personal commitment to the ISMF started with his election as a Council member in 2015, where he was assigned President of the Sustainability Commission until the year 2020. In this important field he introduced very important innovations thanks to his multiple skills and talents. In this regard, we would like to emphasize one of his highlights in the field of sustainability, which was the participation in the United Nations High-level Political Forum in 2018 in New York appointed by the Andorran Government. On this occasion he had the opportunity to show his remarkable experience in sustainability and sports, above all in the framework of the ISMF World Cup in Andorra.
Jaume will be greatly missed by all of us as a fellow friend of the ISMF and the ski mountaineering. He will continue to live in our hearts and memories.
