Ski Mountaineering youngsters ready for the second round of the Youth World Cup

 

Lausanne, 16 March 2023 – 

Over 80 young ski mountaineering athletes are ready for the second round of the ISMF Youth World Cup, that will take place this weekend in the astonishing Swiss resort of Villars. With a Sprint and an Individual race on the menu, the U20 and U18 athletes deliver a great show for fans and spectators.

On Friday, 82 athletes from 9 different countries will face a Sprint race that will start at 10am local time in Bretaye. On Sunday, 85 athletes will have to deal with an individual race ok 8.1 km and 919+D, with three climbs and three descents.

The start list is packed with medallists from the recent ISMF World Championships held in Boi Taull last month, with the likes of Jeremy Anselmet (bronze medallist in Sprint), Erik Canovi (two golds and one bronze in Boi Taull); Loic Dubois (silver in the vertical race); Thibe Deseyn (one gold and three bronze medals in the World Championships); Oriol Olm (gold in the vertical race), María Ordoñez (silver in Sprint) and Nils Oberauer (gold in the individual race) looking to improve their already successful season so far.

The ISMF launched the Youth World Cup series this season, with the first event taking place in Crevacol (Italy) in February. The Youth Series will finish in 10 days in Val Louron (France), where the youngsters will close their season with Sprint, Vertical and Individual races.
