ISMF is looking for a Deputy Sport and Event Manager

Competitive Ski Mountaineering is one of the fastest growing winter sports and will make its Olympic debut at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games in 2026, after an extremely successful performance at the Lausanne 2020 Youth Games. The ISMF is the international governing body for the sport and is seeking a Deputy Sport and Event Manager. This individual will work with an experienced and passionate Sports Department team to plan and execute events ranging from World Cups, Youth Cups, World Championships, Continental Championships, and the Olympic Games. Job Profile:

  • Work as assistant event director at ISMF World Cup events with Local Organising Committees (LOCs).
  • Lead at smaller ISMF events such as Youth World Cups after training with our senior sport personnel.
  • Eventually lead higher-profile ISMF events such as Continental Championships and World Championships.
  • Coordinate critical material and on-site personnel, templates for TCM, pre-event reports, lead and co-lead meetings and de-briefings.
  • Colaboration on race calendar, LOC contracts, licensing, anti-doping and ongoing modifications to rules and regulations.
  • Coordinate development projects for European and International referee and technical teams.
  • Contribute and lead tasks related to continental training, Olympic Games/International Olympic Committee requests, commissions, other.

Requirements:

  • Management experience, preferably in sport event project management.
  • Proven track record as a team leader with good communication skills.
  • Preferably hold a university degree in sports management or related field.
  • Familiar with competitive ski mountaineering (preference given to a former athlete, coach, referee, official, other in national or international ski mountaineering events).
  • Prefer work experience with national or international ski mountaineering or other winter sport federations.
  • Fluent in English and proficient in at least two other languages.
  • Familiar with MS Office, GPS tools and preferably database programs.
  • Physically capable of skinning and skiing mountains with a versatile knowledge and passion for mountain and endurance sports.
  • Able to work effectively with communications and media partners.
  • Digitally savvy, leader and team player both internally and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to organise, plan and work to strict deadlines.
  • Available to work on weekends both on-site and remotely.

About us:

Founded in 2007, the ISMF is the global governing body for competitive ski mountaineering. Since 2016, the organisation has been officially recognised by the International Olympic Committee. Its main goals are the promotion, regulation and development of the sport of ski mountaineering worldwide. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, the ISMF’s membership consists of 45 national federations located in Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. The ISMF organizes ski mountaineering Senior and Youth World Cups, as well as Masters’ and World Championships. For the first time, ski mountaineering was a medal sport at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has recently been included in the programme of the 2026 Milano-Cortina Olympic Winter Games.

Compensation:

Will be commensurate with relevant experience and training.

Candidate will be able to work remotely. Some travel and work on weekends will be required.
