ISMF is looking for a Marketing & Communication Manager

Competitive Ski Mountaineering is one of the fastest growing winter sports and will make its Olympic debut at Milano-Cortina Winter Olympic Games in 2026, after an extremely successful performance at the Lausanne 2020 Youth Games. The International Ski Mountaineering Federation (ISMF) is the international governing body for the sport and is seeking its first-ever dedicated Marketing & Communication Manager to work on strategic partnerships and help the growth of our sport, generating revenues maximizing the global exposure of the sport. Responsibilities:

  • Securing sponsors for the sport of Ski Mountaineering and its premier events
  • Show measurable commercial impact for the organisation
  • Building a revenue model for the sport of Ski Mountaineering
  • Establishing the Marketing/Sponsorship strategy of the organization.
  • Ensure the values of the ISMF are matched appropriately with all the partners.
  • Research marketing trends and innovations.
  • Follow up on the obligations with partners.
  • Work with media distribution and production teams to create and place attractive content for brands.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with brand representatives.
  • Lead initiatives spanning growth strategy, events strategy, and commercial excellence by directly scoping, initiating, planning, executing, and controlling large and complex projects tied to high priority commercial objectives
  • Establish objectives, define deliverables, structure work effort, and mobilise cross-functional teams to deliver impactful strategic initiatives against multiple high priorities.
  • Use data-driven insights to support goals and actions in line with ISMF strategic direction.

Requirements:

  • A degree in sports marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years proven history of sales success to brands (preferably, on behalf of a winter sport)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Existing relationships with sponsors.
  • Knowledge of the winter sports industry.
  • Creative messaging to companies to build their brand using the unique attributes in competitive ski mountaineering.
  • Able to work effectively with communications and media partners.
  • The successful candidate, as well as having a passion for sport, must be digitally savvy, a team player and a great all-rounder
  • Must have the ability to organise, plan and work to strict deadlines.
  • All candidates must possess a ‘can-do’ attitude, a progressive personality and enjoy engaging with internal team members, as well as external stakeholders.
  • Available to work on week-ends both on site and remotely.

About us:

Founded in 2007, the International Ski Mountaineering Federation ISMF is the global governing body for ski mountaineering competitions. Since 2016, the organization is officially recognized by the International Olympic Committee IOC. Its main goals are the promotion, regulation and development of the ski mountaineering sport worldwide. Based in Lausanne, Switzerland, the ISMF’s membership consists of 45 national mountaineering or ski sports federations in Europe, Asia, Oceania and the Americas. The ISMF organizes ski mountaineering World Cups events and World Championships. For the first time, ski mountaineering has been a medal sport at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games in Lausanne, Switzerland, and has recently been included in the programme of the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.

Compensation:

Fixed amount plus variable compensation based upon revenue goals.
The position does not require work at the ISMF office, and the successful candidate will be able to work remotely. Some travel and work on week-ends will be required.
