Press Release

Everything is ready for the final stage of the WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup season 2021/22

The fate of the season will be decided during the current week’s competitions to be held in Flaine, France.

Lausanne, 5 April 2022 – At the end of a long winter of races, the international ski mountaineering elite will compete in the three main disciplines to define the final ranking and to be awarded for the most coveted Cups, the Specialty and the Overall ones. Racers from 16 countries will be at the starting line.

If at the moment Emily Harrop (FRA) and Michele Boscacci (ITA) are at the top of the overall ranking, the outcome of the next three races will be crucial as there are precious points at stake that could turn the tables.  In the morning of Wednesday 6 April, the curtain will be risen on the Flaine’s week with the Individual race, whose relative track has already been set up. For the Senior men category there will be 5 ascents, 4 descents and 2 parts on foot with a positive difference in height of 1650 m. The Senior women and the U20s men will have to face a course with a difference in altitude of 1270 m, while the U20s women of 1090 m.

On Thursday, all athletes will compete in the Vertical race, while on Friday afternoon there will be Sprint race for the U20 category’s athletes. The Senior will close the season on Saturday morning with the same race.

Regula Meier, ISMF President, states: “I am very proud of the whole ISMF team and all persons who have participated in any function on the World Cup. Thanks to their tireless efforts, this rigorous season was successful. The fact that we have not had a major accident is not self-evident and I am very grateful for it.”

The Individual and Sprint races will be live streamed on the official ISMF website at https://tv.ismf-ski.org/events/9 in the morning of Wednesday 6 and Saturday 9 April 2022.
