The French team of Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet won the Mixed Relay, the final race of the WÜRTH MODYF ISMF European Championships 2022

After three tough days dedicated to the individual races, this morning the Team Relay officially debuted under a light snowfall. For the first time in the history of this sport, the Relay race was run in the mixed formula with a man and a woman.

Lausanne, 13 February 2022 – At the starting blocks, the coaches of the 18 nations lined up 13 youth teams and 17 senior ones. The race course, to be completed twice by each racer, was very demanding and set up in the beautiful Boí Taüll ski resort. Ascents, steep part on foot, many kick turns and a challenging descent on the ski slope bordered by directional gates determined the final ranking of these European Championships.

For the youth category, the Swiss team composed of Caroline Ulrich and Robin Bussard took the win ahead of the Italian team with Manuela Pedrana and Rocco Baldini. The third place went to France thanks to Louise Trincaz and Jérémy Anselmet.

Concerning the Seniors, the expected gold medal went to the favourite team, the French couple of Emily Harrop and Thibault Anselmet, who led the group from the first to the last metre. In second and third place many Italians. Giulia Murada and Nicolò Ernesto Canclini won the silver medal, while Alba De Silvestro and Michele Boscacci took the bronze one thanks to a great performance.

The best overall time was recorded by the new European Sprint Champion, the Spanish Oriol Cardona Coll (7’05”). Among Women, the best time was set by the transalpine Emily Harrop (8’41”). For youth category, Thomas Bussard (SUI) stopped the clock on 7’53, while his teammate Caroline Ulrich on a spectacular 9’04”.

At the end of all the scheduled competitions, the nations’ medal table was drawn up with France at the top, followed by Italy and Switzerland. The next stage of the 2021/22 WÜRTH MODYF ISMF World Cup season will be held during the third weekend of March in Val Martello, Italy, with an Individual and a Sprint race.
