ISMF World Cup 2021 Madonna di Campiglio: ISMF Disciplinary Commission to further investigate into disqualification of Swiss team

Lausanne/Mondovì, 2 April 2021 – The ISMF has already informed of the disqualification of the Swiss ski mountaineering team from competing in the final Individual Race and the related ceremonies on Sunday, 28 March 2021 at the ISMF Ski Mountaineering World Cup finals at Madonna di Campiglio, Italy. The reason for this decision was the severe non-compliance with the official Covid protocol of the Trentino region. The entire team was sent back home immediately.

As a next step, the ISMF Council has mandated the ISMF Disciplinary Commission to further investigate into the background of the misconduct of the Swiss team leaders in order to evaluate possible additional disciplinary sanctions to be taken on an international level against the responsible persons. Thomas Kähr, the President of the ISMF said: „This incident has shocked everyone, and it will be of utmost importance for the credibility of our sports community that all aspects of this case will be investigated thoroughly. The ISMF will never tolerate behaviors of leaders that infringe our core values.”
